Mobile Solution for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing

Orizon was awarded a contract by the Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) to develop a mobile phone based Federal Reserve Notes (banknotes) identification application to assist the blind or visually impaired with the ability to positively identify the specific denomination of a note with a mobile phone.

As a result, Orizon designed, developed, and deployed the BEP EyeNote® application (app) for the Apple iOS to assist the blind or visually impaired with the ability to positively identify U.S. bank notes using Apple mobile and tablet devices.

The app is built for the Apple iOS to allow the user to scan a bank note and communicate its value back to the user. For EyeNote, we implemented advanced image recognition technology to determine a U.S. bank note’s denomination.

We deployed the app on the Apple App Store and it is available as a free download, and the app supports both English and Spanish languages. A data connection is not required for the app to work.

Orizon continues to maintain and support the app to ensure interoperability with new Apple software and mobile phone and tablet hardware releases.
